VenaSeal Closure
The VenaSeal system is a newer procedure used to treat venous insufficiency which causes varicose veins. It delivers a small amount of a specially formulated medical adhesive to seal – or close – the diseased vein, rerouting blood to nearby health veins, which provides symptom relief. An adhesive is placed in the vein via a small catheter, then pressure is applied to the leg to help seal the vein. Finally, the small catheter is removed from the vein and a bandage is applied to cover the access site. VenaSeal is a simple outpatient procedure that does not require anesthesia.
